I bet USB communication with PICs is not so complicated, but right now it feels like rocket science to me, because of Microchip's many compilers, IDEs and library packs which don't fit each other quite well and suffer from severe compatibility issues between their various versions. I've also read many posts in Microchip forums stating MLA code still doesn't compile correctly in XC8. Besides, these packages talk about bootloaders and things that only makes everything more complicated.
